PM Modi conferred Indonesia’s highest civilian honour ‘Bintang Adipurna’
Jakarta: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Tuesday conferred Indonesia’s highest civilian honour, the ‘Bintang Adipurna’, by the Indonesian government in recognition of his contribution to strengthening bilateral ties and fostering cooperation between the two nations.
The prestigious award, reserved for global leaders who have rendered exceptional service to the unity, continuity and prosperity of the Republic of Indonesia, was presented by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at a ceremonial event in Jakarta.
The honour comes during Prime Minister Modi’s official visit to Indonesia, marking a significant milestone in India-Indonesia relations.

The visit is the first major bilateral engagement between the two countries since President Prabowo Subianto attended India’s Republic Day celebrations as the Chief Guest in January 2025. According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the visit is expected to further strengthen India’s ‘Act East’ policy and its Indo-Pacific vision.
Addressing a joint media briefing after receiving the award, Prime Minister Modi said India and Indonesia share a rich historical and cultural legacy, enjoy mutual trust in the present, and aspire to build a prosperous future together.
“Together, we will realise the vision of Indonesia Emas (Golden Indonesia) and a developed India,” Modi said.
Referring to the current global geopolitical situation, the Prime Minister stressed that dialogue and diplomacy remain the most effective means of resolving challenges. He also reaffirmed that India and Indonesia would work closely to ensure a free, open, secure and inclusive Indo-Pacific region, with particular focus on the Indian Ocean.
