Senior Congress Leader, Former Rajya Sabha MP H. Hanumanthappa Passes Away
Chitradurga: Senior Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha MP H. Hanumanthappa passed away on Sunday afternoon at the age of 95 following age-related illness.
A veteran politician, Hanumanthappa served as a Rajya Sabha member three times and was Chairman of the Central Silk Board on two occasions. He was widely regarded for his contributions to public life and parliamentary affairs.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar, and several political leaders expressed grief over his demise and paid tributes to the veteran Congress leader.

In a post on social media platform X, KPCC President B.K. Hariprasad described Hanumanthappa as a dedicated parliamentarian and a leader who consistently stood for the welfare of the people and the rights of the oppressed.
“The news of the demise of senior Karnataka Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha MP H. Hanumanthappa has deeply saddened me. He upheld parliamentary values, was a people’s leader and a strong voice for the oppressed. His services will always be remembered. His passing is an irreparable loss to the Congress party and the state,” Hariprasad said.
He also conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family, relatives and admirers, praying for eternal peace for the departed soul.
