Bengaluru: The Hebbagodi Police have registered a case against an unidentified person for allegedly creating a fake Facebook account in the name of Electronic City Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) M. Narayana and using it to cheat people.

According to the complaint filed by DCP Narayana, the accused created a fake profile impersonating the senior IPS officer and contacted his friends and members of the public, seeking money on various pretexts.

Police said the fraudster allegedly lured victims by claiming to sell household items at heavily discounted prices and collected money through online transactions.

Following the complaint, the Hebbagodi Police registered an FIR and launched an investigation.

Meanwhile, DCP M. Narayana released a video message warning the public against the fake Facebook account.
