BJP accuses Karnataka government of targeting farmers in Bidadi Township row

Bengaluru: Senior BJP leader R. Ashoka has accused the Karnataka government of intimidating farmers protesting against the proposed Bidadi Township project by filing what he described as “false FIRs” against them.

In a statement, Ashoka alleged that the Congress government had entered agricultural land and carried out a joint measurement survey without giving prior notice to landowners. He claimed that farmers who questioned the exercise were threatened with police action.

“The true face of the Congress government has been exposed. Instead of standing with farmers, it is using the police to suppress their protest,” Ashoka alleged.

He urged Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to immediately withdraw all cases allegedly filed against the protesting farmers within 48 hours.

Ashoka warned that if the FIRs were not withdrawn, the BJP would launch a statewide agitation alongside farmers against the government.
