R. Ashok Alleges Misuse of Public Funds Over ‘Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangh’ Initiative

Bengaluru: Karnataka Leader of the Opposition R. Ashok on Tuesday criticised the state government’s decision to constitute 6,000 ‘Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangh’ units, alleging that taxpayer money was being used to further the Congress party’s political agenda.

In a post on social media platform X, the senior BJP leader claimed the initiative was a Congress propaganda exercise funded by the public exchequer.

“The Congress government in Karnataka is using public money for Congress propaganda. The ‘Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangh’ project is nothing but a Congress campaign being run with taxpayers’ money,” Ashok said.

He alleged that after appointing Congress workers through the Guarantee Implementation Committees, the government was again diverting public funds for party interests under the guise of promoting constitutional values and social harmony.

“The state treasury is not the Congress party’s private election fund. It is not meant to finance Rahul Gandhi’s political campaign or fulfil D.K. Shivakumar’s political ambitions,” he said.

Ashok further argued that the government should focus on addressing farmers’ issues, improving infrastructure and completing stalled development projects instead of creating what he described as a network of political loyalists.

He said that if the Congress party wanted to continue the Bharat Jodo campaign, it should bear the expenses from its own funds.

“The people of Karnataka should not be made to finance the political survival of Congress leaders. Karnataka needs good governance, not the misuse of the state treasury for partisan politics,” Ashok added.
