Bengaluru: Actress Shakeela has revealed that excessive mobile phone use and prolonged poor posture led to a serious neck problem, eventually requiring her to undergo surgery.

The actor, known for her work in several films, recently underwent surgery after experiencing persistent neck pain and nerve-related issues. The procedure reportedly cost around ₹3 lakh.

Sharing a video on her YouTube channel after returning home from the hospital, Shakeela spoke about her lifestyle and how excessive mobile use may have contributed to her condition.

She said she would often lie on one side of the bed for hours while playing games on her mobile phone. She would get up only occasionally, before returning to the same position to play games or watch YouTube videos and Instagram reels.

According to Shakeela, remaining in the same posture while using the phone for prolonged periods put excessive pressure on the nerves in her neck, eventually leading to the problem and the need for surgery.

Following the procedure, doctors advised her to wear a neck collar, which she also showed in the video.

Shakeela urged her fans to be cautious about prolonged mobile phone use and avoid spending unnecessary hours on their devices. While acknowledging that smartphones have become an important part of daily life, she advised people to use them responsibly and maintain proper posture.

She also appealed to parents to monitor children’s mobile phone usage and ensure they do not spend excessive time on smartphones.
