Udaipur: Renowned Tamil film producer R. B. Choudary (68) passed away following a tragic road accident near Udaipur in Rajasthan. He was reportedly travelling for a personal engagement when the car he was in met with an accident, leaving him critically injured. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he could not be saved.
A towering figure in South Indian cinema, Choudary made a lasting impact through his banner Super Good Films, producing over 70 films across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi industries. Beginning his journey in the late 1980s, he went on to win three Filmfare Awards and earned a reputation for backing commercially successful and memorable films.
He played a pivotal role in shaping the career of actor Vijay with the film Poove Unakkaga, which proved to be a major turning point. His production house later delivered several hits including Thiruppachi, Shahjahan and Jilla.
Known for nurturing new talent, Choudary was instrumental in launching and supporting the careers of many actors and filmmakers. He also collaborated with leading stars such as Sarathkumar and Mammootty.
He is survived by his four sons—Suresh, Jeevan, Jitan Ramesh and Jeeva. His demise marks the end of an era in the South Indian film industry.
