Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will operate 2,400 additional buses to meet the surge in passenger demand during the Gowri-Ganesha festival and the preceding weekend.
The special services will operate from September 11 to 13, ahead of the festival on September 14. From September 14, additional buses will be operated from various intra-state and interstate locations towards Bengaluru.
Special buses to key destinations
From Kempegowda Bus Station, special buses will operate to major destinations including Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Sringeri, Horanadu, Davanagere, Hubballi, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Bidar, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Hyderabad.
Special services from Mysuru Road Bus Station will connect Mysuru, Hunsuru, Piriyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalnagar and Madikeri.
Premier special buses from Shanthinagar BMTC Bus Station (TTMC) will operate to destinations in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, including Chennai, Madurai, Kumbakonam, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam and Kozhikode.
Online booking, discounts available
Passengers can book tickets in advance through KSRTC’s online reservation system and booking counters in neighbouring states.
A 5% discount will be offered when four or more passengers book on a single ticket, while a 10% discount will be available on return journey tickets when onward and return tickets are booked together.
Passengers are advised to check the boarding point mentioned on their reservation tickets. Additional buses will also be operated from taluk and district bus stands based on passenger demand.
