New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed 14 judicial officers as judges and additional judges to the Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Jharkhand and Karnataka high courts, according to an announcement issued by the government on Saturday.
The appointments were made in exercise of the powers conferred by the Constitution of India and after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, the announcement said.
Two appointed as Delhi HC judges
Nivedita Anil Sharma and Nisha Sahay Saxena have been appointed as judges of the Delhi High Court.
Five others — Sanjay Sharma, Bharat Parashar, Dr Aditi Choudhary, Dinesh Bhatt and Arun Bhardwaj — have been appointed as additional judges of the Delhi High Court.
Appointments to J&K, Jharkhand HCs
Yash Paul Bourney has been appointed as a judge of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
In the Jharkhand High Court, Manoj Prasad, Akhil Kumar and Ram Sharma have been appointed as judges.
The appointments come as high courts across the country continue to strengthen their judicial benches to deal with pending cases and ensure the timely administration of justice.
Three additional judges for Karnataka HC
The President has also appointed Usharani, K.S. Bharath Kumar and Nerale V. Bhavani as additional judges of the Karnataka High Court.
The appointments cover both permanent judicial positions and additional judgeships across the four high courts. The government notification did not provide further details on the terms or effective dates of the appointments.
