Asian Games: Ankush Panghal wins boxing gold, completes India’s hat-trick
Nagoya: Ankush Panghal defeated South Korea’s Kim Minseong 4-0 in the men’s 80kg final to win gold at the Asian Games on Friday, becoming the first Indian male boxer since Amit Panghal in 2018 to claim the title.
Ankush’s victory completed a hat-trick of gold medals for India in boxing at the continental event, with Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) and Parveen Hooda (65kg) also winning their respective finals in Nagoya.
The three gold medals contributed to India’s best-ever gold-medal haul in boxing at the Asian Games, with the country securing six medals overall in the sport.

Ankush’s triumph marked a significant milestone for Indian boxing, ending an eight-year wait for a men’s gold at the Games. His commanding performance in the final added to India’s strong showing in the competition.
The achievement follows a record-breaking campaign by Indian boxers at the Commonwealth Games, further highlighting the country’s recent success in international boxing.
