Aichi-Nagoya: India continued its medal hunt at the Asian Games in Japan on Monday, with shooters leading the country’s campaign on the second day of competition.
In the men’s 10m air rifle individual event, Himanshu Dhillon clinched the silver medal, while Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil won bronze.
The duo then combined with 18-year-old Parth Rakesh Mane to secure another silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle team event.
The Indian trio finished with a combined score of 1,898.4 points, narrowly missing out on the gold. China topped the event with 1,899.0 points and set a new world record.
The shooting contingent once again emerged as a key medal contributor for India at the Games, with the country’s athletes producing strong performances across disciplines on the second day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Rudrankksh Patil, Himanshu Dhillon and Parth Mane on winning the team silver.
In a post on X, Modi praised the trio’s performance, saying their focus, consistency and teamwork had made the country proud.
He also highlighted their combined score and wished the shooters success in their future competitions.
The medals add to India’s early haul at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games as Indian athletes continue their campaign across multiple sporting disciplines.
