New Delhi: The Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA) has strengthened India’s international collaboration in next-generation telecommunications by exchanging five memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with global organisations at the 3rd International Bharat 6G Symposium 2026, held at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka.

The three-day symposium, organised alongside India Mobile Congress 2026, brought together telecom industry leaders, policymakers, researchers, standards organisations and academia to discuss the roadmap towards IMT-2030 and beyond.

Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani addressed the valedictory session, highlighting India’s transition from a major telecom market to an important telecom technology nation.

He said self-reliance and international collaboration were complementary, adding that stronger domestic capabilities would enable India to become a more effective global partner.

The minister emphasised that 6G development must prioritise affordability, accessibility and coverage to prevent a new digital divide. He also highlighted the potential of integrating terrestrial and satellite networks to extend connectivity to remote villages, islands and other underserved locations.

The five MoUs were exchanged with GSMA, one6G, GTI Alliance, Taiwan’s 6G Innovation Forum and VOICE. The partnerships are expected to create opportunities for joint research, technology trials and knowledge exchange.

The alliance also released 10 white papers and reports, including a progress report on 6G Joint Principles, reinforcing its focus on secure, resilient, inclusive and sustainable telecommunications.

Discussions at the symposium covered 5G-Advanced, global standards, spectrum requirements, WRC-27, AI-native networks, sustainability, international testbeds and industrial applications.

DoT highlights ESTIC 2026

During the valedictory session, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) presented a curtain-raiser for the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2026, scheduled for October 27–29 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Organised by CSIR in collaboration with 12 participating departments and ministries, the event will focus on “Creative Minds, Catalyzing Science, Empowering Technologies”.

The DoT will lead a thematic session on “Intelligent Networks and Quantum Communication” on October 28, featuring technology leaders, deep-tech entrepreneurs and experts from IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, HFCL, Reliance Jio and Bharat 6G Alliance.

Established in July 2023, the Bharat 6G Alliance brings together industry, startups, telecom service providers, academia and research institutions to advance indigenous innovation and contribute to global 6G standards.
