New Delhi: Bharat Taxi, a cooperative-led digital mobility platform operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL), has officially expanded its services to Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan, the government said.
The platform is being rolled out across the country in phases, with the process involving driver registration and onboarding, customer enrolment, training and expansion into identified cities and states.
As of August 4, 2026, Bharat Taxi had registered 8.48 lakh Sarathis (drivers) and 44.27 lakh customers. The platform is currently facilitating an average of 11,106 rides a day and has generated cumulative earnings of ₹83.70 crore for its drivers.
Delhi-NCR recorded the highest average daily rides at 5,574, followed by Gujarat with 3,817. Pune recorded 632 daily rides, Lucknow 324, Jaipur 372, Mumbai 197 and Chandigarh 190.
The government said further expansion of Bharat Taxi will depend on operational preparedness, driver availability, statutory requirements and coordination with state governments, cooperative institutions and other stakeholders.
Bharat Taxi operates under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002, through Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited. It is distinct from Yatri Sathi, a mobility platform operated by the West Bengal government’s Department of Information Technology and Electronics.
However, the two platforms entered into an MoU on July 19, 2026. Under the agreement, Bharat Taxi will support Yatri Sathi in areas including driver enrolment, cooperative membership, driver welfare and public outreach.
