BJP’s Sudhanshu Trivedi Targets Congress Over Sonia Gandhi’s Babri Remarks
New Delhi: BJP Rajya Sabha MP and national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi on Sunday accused the Congress of double standards on the Ram temple issue, questioning its position on the Babri structure demolition and its response to other sensitive national issues.
Addressing the media, Trivedi referred to reports that Sonia Gandhi had become emotional during the demolition of the Babri structure on December 6, 1992. He questioned why the Congress leadership had not expressed similar concern over the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Hindus and the controversy surrounding the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
He also objected to Sonia Gandhi’s reported reference to the disputed structure as the Babri Masjid and questioned how she had watched the demolition on television, claiming Doordarshan had not broadcast the event live throughout the day.

Trivedi alleged that the Congress had moved away from Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of Ram Rajya. He also referred to visits by members of the Nehru-Gandhi family to Babur’s grave.
Targeting the Samajwadi Party, he questioned its leaders’ stated interest in visiting the Ram temple in Ayodhya, referring to the police firing during the 1990 Ram temple movement. He alleged that such statements were driven by electoral considerations.
The BJP leader also raised the allegations against senior Uttarakhand Congress leader Harak Singh Rawat, referring to a complaint reportedly filed by a woman in an old case and demands for a DNA test and CBI probe.
Questioning the silence of Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Trivedi asked the Congress leadership to respond to the allegations and clarify its position.
