Dharwad: Three people from Davangere district were killed and three others seriously injured after the car they were travelling in overturned near Venkatapur village on National Highway-4 in Dharwad taluk.
The deceased were identified as Vinayak K.U., 25, Manjunath, 29, and Basavaraj, 34, all residents of Davangere district.
The accident occurred when the group was travelling from Belagavi towards Dharwad. The car reportedly went out of control near Venkatapur and overturned on the highway.
Three occupants died on the spot, while three others suffered serious injuries. The injured were shifted to Dharwad District Hospital for treatment.
Personnel from Garag police station reached the spot after being alerted about the accident and conducted an inspection.
Police registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the car losing control. Officials are also examining whether overspeeding, driver error or other factors contributed to the accident.
