New Delhi: Actor Chiranjeevi on Monday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and raised concerns over the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) and deepfake technologies, saying they pose a serious threat to artists’ rights, dignity and creative content.

In a statement after the meeting, Chiranjeevi said he had shared his concerns with Shah, who heard them and assured him that the government would examine the issue urgently and work towards introducing stronger safeguards and stricter penalties.

The home minister also advised the actor to submit a written representation and entrusted Union Minister G Kishan Reddy with coordinating the matter, Chiranjeevi said.

Describing the meeting as an encouraging step for the film fraternity, the actor expressed gratitude for Shah’s assurance and hoped that meaningful safeguards would be introduced soon.

The concerns come amid growing debate over the use of AI-generated content and deepfakes, particularly their potential impact on the rights and reputation of artists.
