Heavy Rain Alert Across Karnataka; Orange Alert for Coastal and Malnad Districts
Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across several parts of Karnataka as the southwest monsoon intensifies, issuing an Orange Alert for eight districts and a Yellow Alert for several others.
An Orange Alert has been issued for the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada, where heavy rain accompanied by strong winds of 40-50 kmph is expected.
Heavy rainfall is also likely in the Malnad districts of Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu, prompting the IMD to issue an Orange Alert for these regions.

In north interior Karnataka, Belagavi has also been placed under an Orange Alert, while Dharwad, Gadag and Haveri are under a Yellow Alert with forecasts of rain and gusty winds. Moderate rainfall is expected in Bagalkot, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura and Yadgir districts.
The IMD has also predicted light to moderate rainfall in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ballari, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Tumakuru and Vijayanagara districts.
The weather department has advised residents in districts under heavy rain alerts to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against waterlogging, strong winds and other rain-related hazards.
