Bengaluru: The Karnataka government is likely to make fresh appointments to various boards and corporations next month, with opportunities expected to be extended to party workers, KPCC president B K Hariprasad said.

Addressing a press conference, Hariprasad said decisions on the appointments would be taken after considering the views and suggestions of senior party leaders.

Asked whether the Congress’s defeat in the Legislative Council elections was a warning sign for the government, Hariprasad defended its performance, rejecting allegations of misgovernance. He admitted that there could be minor shortcomings in administration but said these would be identified and addressed.

On whether neglect of party workers had contributed to the electoral setback, he said some workers might be disappointed with the outcome but maintained that they had actively participated in the election campaign.

He also stressed that electoral results and governance were separate matters and said the party would take necessary steps to strengthen its organisation and address concerns raised by workers.
