New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday released former President Ram Nath Kovind’s autobiography, Triumph of the Indian Republic: My Life, My Struggles, describing the book as a valuable contribution to India’s democratic and social history.
Speaking at the launch event, Modi said Kovind’s life journey and contribution to society and the nation could offer important lessons to the younger generation. He said the autobiography reflects not only Kovind’s personal struggles but also the larger success of India’s Republic and democracy.
Recalling Kovind’s childhood in a modest family in Kanpur Dehat, Modi highlighted the hardships he faced, including the tragic death of his mother in a house fire. He said such experiences could have broken a person, but Kovind emerged stronger and drew strength from family, society and education.
Modi praised Kovind’s simplicity and humility even after he rose to the country’s highest constitutional office. He recalled Kovind’s respect for his teachers and villagers and said his conduct reflected Indian values and traditions.
The Prime Minister said Kovind’s journey represented the aspirations of generations who dreamt of an India where even the poorest and most disadvantaged could reach the highest positions through hard work and ability.
Modi also highlighted Kovind’s public service, his tenure as Governor and President, and his continued involvement in issues such as ‘One Nation, One Election’.
Urging young people to avoid shortcuts in life, Modi said biographies provide an opportunity to understand history and learn from the experiences of those who shaped the nation. He encouraged the youth to read Kovind’s autobiography and draw inspiration from his struggles, integrity, humility and commitment to public service.
