Bengaluru: BJP MLC C.T. Ravi on Tuesday criticised KPCC president B.K. Hariprasad over his remarks on the RSS, saying claims about eliminating the organisation were unrealistic, particularly as it approaches its centenary.
Speaking to reporters, Ravi said the RSS represented an ideology centred on patriotism and argued that statements about dismantling the organisation did not warrant a response from it.
Ravi also accused the Congress of adopting a political approach that, he said, could put its existing constituencies at risk. He said the party should focus on retaining the seats it already holds before setting its sights on expanding its tally.
Ravi also raised concerns over the case involving Puneeth Kerehalli, alleging that a case had been registered against Kerehalli rather than those who allegedly attacked him. Ravi claimed that CCTV footage, video and audio recordings were available in connection with the incident.
He said Kerehalli had been in jail for about a month and was reportedly on a hunger strike, and warned that the government would be responsible if his health deteriorated. Ravi demanded withdrawal of the cases and sought security measures for those involved.
₹38,000 crore contractor dues
Ravi further alleged that the Karnataka government owed contractors around ₹38,000 crore in pending bills.
He claimed that the government had earlier indicated the dues would be cleared within two months, but payments had still not been released after three months. According to Ravi, the delay had caused financial difficulties for contractors, with some allegedly being forced to sell assets or pledge gold.
Ravi said the government should clear pending bills before announcing fresh projects. He argued that releasing the outstanding amount first would help restore confidence among contractors and the public in the government’s assurances.
