‘Law and order has collapsed in Karnataka’: BJP demands Priyank Kharge’s resignation
Bengaluru: The opposition BJP has launched a fresh attack on Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge, accusing the Congress government of failing to maintain law and order across the state while he criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ‘Vande Mataram’ issue.
In a post on X, the BJP alleged that the Home Department had failed to control rising crime, the alleged presence of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, prison escapes, the drug trade and atrocities against Dalits in Karnataka.

‘Take moral responsibility and resign’
The BJP said the Congress should not lecture others on patriotism when it had allegedly shown disrespect towards ‘Vande Mataram’.
Targeting Priyank Kharge, the party claimed that crimes were being reported regularly across Karnataka and questioned why the Home Minister had not taken moral responsibility for the alleged deterioration in law and order.
The BJP also alleged that development in Kalaburagi, Kharge’s home district, had suffered setbacks. It said ministers should focus on improving administration and law and order in their respective areas before commenting on issues such as patriotism.
The opposition party alleged that the law-and-order situation had deteriorated across Karnataka and demanded that Priyank Kharge resign as Home Minister, taking moral responsibility for what it described as the government’s administrative and security failures.
