New Delhi: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, on Sunday launched the Fresh Application Module on the Notary Portal, enabling eligible advocates and legal practitioners to apply online for appointment as Notary Public under the Notaries Act, 1952.

Developed by the Department of Legal Affairs in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the new module allows applicants to submit fresh applications digitally, making the process more transparent, efficient and citizen-friendly.

Department of Legal Affairs Secretary Dr. Rajiv Mani said the module has been integrated with the existing Notary Portal, which already provides several online services related to notary appointments. He noted that automated workflows and a user-friendly interface have been incorporated to ensure smooth processing of applications.

Speaking at the launch, Meghwal said the initiative is another step towards the vision of Digital India, promoting a paperless, transparent and citizen-centric governance system. He added that the module will simplify the application process and improve accessibility for aspiring notaries.

The Department of Legal Affairs will invite applications through the portal from time to time based on requirements under the Notaries Act and Rules. Detailed guidelines and instructions for applicants will be made available on the Notary Portal.

The launch is expected to strengthen digital governance by streamlining the process of appointing notaries across the country.
