Mumbai: The first song from the much-awaited Ramayana, titled ‘Jai Jai Ram’, was released on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, drawing attention from moviegoers and fans on social media.
The devotional track has been sung by popular playback singers Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, with lyrics by Kumar Vishwas and music composed by acclaimed composer A R Rahman.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the pan-India epic features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Yash plays Ravana, while Sunny Deol essays the role of Hanuman.
The two-word title of the song — ‘Jai Jai Ram’ — captures the essence of devotion and prayer. The track seeks to evoke the glory of Lord Ram and the emotional connect of his devotees, the makers said.
Mounted on a massive budget, Ramayana is being planned as a pan-India cinematic spectacle. The film’s first part is scheduled to hit theatres on November 6.
With its star-studded cast, A R Rahman’s music and Tiwari’s ambitious retelling of the epic, the film has already become one of the most anticipated releases among Indian cinema audiences.
