YSRCP Alleges Farmers Being Harassed Over Amaravati Land Acquisition
Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused the Andhra Pradesh government of harassing farmers in Undavalli in the name of developing Amaravati as the state capital.
In a post on social media platform X, Jagan alleged that despite farmers refusing to part with their land, the government deployed police personnel and bulldozers to agricultural fields, destroying standing crops and forcibly taking possession of the land.
He claimed that many of the affected are small and marginal farmers whose agricultural land is their sole source of livelihood. Jagan questioned the government’s silence on compensation for crop losses, investments made by farmers and their future rehabilitation.

The former Chief Minister also alleged that although thousands of acres had already been acquired for the Amaravati capital project, many farmers were yet to receive adequate justice and compensation.

Describing compulsory land acquisition without farmers’ consent as undemocratic, Jagan demanded an immediate halt to the exercise. The YSRCP urged the state government to provide full compensation for crop losses and ensure that no land is acquired without the explicit consent of the farmers.
