New Delhi: The Centre will launch the 100 Weeks Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan with a nationwide Rashtriya Sankalp Samaroh and youth pledge and signature campaign from September 18, aiming to mobilise young people for a sustained campaign against substance abuse.

The initiative is being spearheaded by the Department of Youth Affairs under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) and the National Service Scheme (NSS).

Pledge drive across 300 educational institutions

The NSS will organise the opening Rashtriya Sankalp Samaroh across 300 identified educational institutions from September 18. The participating network includes colleges, universities and other institutions across several states and Union territories.

The programme will centre on a collective youth pledge and signature campaign, along with street plays, slogan writing and youth-led discussions aimed at creating awareness and encouraging community participation.

The campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 2 through a virtual address to spiritual organisations, industry associations, NGOs and university associations. Since its launch, it has recorded participation from more than 30,200 locations, over 2.5 crore viewership and more than 1 crore pledges.

485 MY Bharat units to join on September 20

The first Sunday of the 100-week campaign will be observed on September 20, with activities planned across 485 MY Bharat units, including district offices and youth hostels.

The campaign is built around four pillars — Prevent, Protect, Recover and Lead.

Its opening phase will be followed by a structured 12-week activity calendar from September to December 2026, covering three themes: My Health, My Pride, Fit Youth, Addiction-Free Youth and Life Skills Month.

Activities will include health check-ups, BMI camps, meditation and wellness sessions, health walks and runs, Yuva Melas, yoga, traditional sports, mini-marathons, cyclothons, sports leagues and workshops on decision-making, peer pressure and problem-solving.

Under the NSS component, activities will subsequently be held on Fridays and Saturdays, with 200 locations planned each week for 11 weeks, taking the projected coverage to 2,500 events. MY Bharat’s plan includes 3,235 unit-level activities during the 12-week period.

The campaign will bring together MY Bharat youth, NSS volunteers, educational institutions and partner organisations, with activities monitored through participation data, photographs, videos and other campaign documentation.
