Supply Disruptions, Not Production Shortage, Driving Global Energy Crisis: Jaishankar
Atlanta: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said disruptions in supply chains, rather than a shortage of production, are the main reason behind the global energy crisis.
Addressing the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Atlanta, Jaishankar said attacks on energy trade and infrastructure, along with restrictions on supply routes, were driving up prices and creating market instability. Poorer countries were bearing the biggest burden, he said.

Highlighting India’s need for reliable LPG supplies, he outlined the country’s efforts across the critical minerals sector, from exploration to recycling. He also proposed a G20 initiative on critical mineral recycling.
Jaishankar called for greater investment in green hydrogen, biofuels and small modular nuclear reactors. He said military solutions could not resolve global conflicts and urged countries to give diplomacy a chance.
