Three CMs unite for inauguration of new crest gates at Tungabhadra reservoir
Koppal: In a rare display of inter-state cooperation, the chief ministers of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Thursday jointly inaugurated four newly installed crest gates at the historic Tungabhadra reservoir in Munirabad.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil participated in the event and jointly inaugurated the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st crest gates by pressing a button.
Following the inauguration, the leaders inspected the newly installed gates and reviewed their technical features. Officials of the Tungabhadra reservoir briefed them on the functioning of the gates and the benefits expected from the modernisation project.

According to officials, the new crest gates have been installed to enhance the reservoir’s safety and improve water management capabilities. The upgrade is expected to strengthen water flow regulation and support irrigation, drinking water supply and agricultural requirements in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The project is being viewed as a major milestone in the modernisation of the Tungabhadra reservoir and is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring efficient water utilisation across the three states.
