Bengaluru: N. Ravi Kumar has alleged that the Karnataka government is deliberately obstructing the issuance of Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificates to members of the Talawara community in parts of Kalyana Karnataka.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office, the legislator said that despite the community receiving ST recognition, eligible beneficiaries in Kalaburagi and Yadgir districts are yet to receive certificates.
He further alleged that a minister from the ruling Indian National Congress was responsible for delays in the process. “The Talawara community must be issued ST certificates. If immediate action is not taken, we will be forced to launch a protest,” he warned.
Ravi Kumar claimed that while officials stated that around 28,000 ST certificates have been issued overall, genuinely eligible applicants in these districts are still being left out.
He also demanded the withdrawal of FIRs filed against members of the community during recent protests, and expressed concern that many youths are missing out on government jobs and educational opportunities due to the lack of caste certificates.
