Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president B.K. Hariprasad on Monday appealed to Congress MLAs disappointed over missing out on cabinet berths not to take “emotional decisions”, including resigning from the party or the Assembly.
In a post on X, Hariprasad said it was natural for legislators who had worked for the party to aspire to serve in the government, adding that the Congress respected the contributions and sentiments of every MLA.
He said the cabinet had limited vacancies and that the selections were made jointly by the party’s national and state leadership after considering regional balance, social justice, community representation, experience, emerging leadership and governance requirements.
Hariprasad stressed that not being inducted into the cabinet should not be viewed as a rejection of anyone’s political service or abilities. He assured disgruntled legislators that they would continue to have opportunities to serve through the government, the party organisation and other responsibilities.
The KPCC chief said he would personally meet the dissatisfied MLAs and convey their concerns to the Congress high command. Emphasising that the party had a tradition of resolving differences through dialogue, he urged leaders to respect the newly inducted ministers and work together in the interest of the party, the government and the people of Karnataka.
