Dr Mamatha B takes charge as acting VC of Maharani Cluster University

Bengaluru: Dr Mamatha B, professor and director of the VHD Central Institute of Home Science, took charge as the acting vice-chancellor of Maharani Cluster University on Saturday.

Her appointment was made through an order issued by the Governor following the completion of the tenure of the university’s previous acting vice-chancellor, Dr Ashoka S B.

Dr Mamatha specialises in Family Resource Management (Home Science) and has 29 years of teaching experience. She has published more than 25 research papers and presented over 20 papers at national and international forums. She has also contributed five chapters to edited books and guided four research scholars.

She currently serves as chairperson of the Board of Studies for the undergraduate Home Science department at the university. She has also completed a UGC-sponsored minor research project.

Over the years, Dr Mamatha has served as chairperson and member of Boards of Examinations and Boards of Studies at several institutions, including Bengaluru City University, University of Mysore, Mangalore University, Nitte University and Mount Carmel College.

Outgoing acting vice-chancellor Dr Ashoka S B, Registrar (Evaluation) Prof Y Ramesh, Registrar (Administration) Seema B Nayak, Prof R K Vani Shree and teaching and non-teaching staff of the university were present when Dr Mamatha assumed office.
