New Delhi: Indian distance runner Parul Chaudhary secured a bronze medal in the women’s 3000m steeplechase at the Asian Games 2026, producing a personal-best performance to finish on the podium.
Chaudhary clocked 9:08.67, her fastest-ever time in the event, to claim third place. Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi won the gold medal in 9:04.36, while Kazakhstan’s Norah Jeruto Tanui took silver with a time of 9:06.82.
India’s other entrant, Ankita, narrowly missed the podium after finishing fourth. She too registered a personal best in the race.

President of India Droupadi Murmu congratulated Chaudhary on her medal-winning performance, noting that combining a personal best with an Asian Games podium finish made the achievement particularly significant.
In her message, the President wished the athlete continued success and said she hoped Chaudhary would overcome more challenges and set new benchmarks in her career.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Chaudhary, describing her performance as a strong showing in the 3000m steeplechase.
Modi highlighted the fact that Chaudhary produced a personal best while securing the bronze medal. He said her dedication and perseverance had made the country proud and extended his best wishes for her future competitions.
The podium finish adds another medal to India’s athletics campaign at the Asian Games, with Chaudhary’s personal-best effort providing a notable highlight in the women’s steeplechase.
