New Delhi: India clinched the gold medal in the women’s 4x400m relay at the Asian Games 2026, with Kiran Pahal, Machettira Poovamma, Prachi and Vithya Ramraj combining for a winning performance.
The Indian quartet clocked 3:29.69 to finish at the top of the podium, securing India’s first athletics gold medal at the ongoing Asian Games.
The victory marked a significant moment for Indian athletics, with the four runners maintaining their composure and delivering a strong finish in the relay final.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Kiran Pahal, Poovamma MR, Prachi and Vithya Ramraj for their performance, saying their speed and determination had taken India to the top of the podium.
Modi also described the victory as a proud moment for Indian athletics and highlighted the role of teamwork in the achievement.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister’s Office extended its wishes to the four athletes for their future competitions.
