Amit Shah Targets Bhagwant Mann Government Over Punjab’s Law and Order
Chandigarh: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has raised concerns over Punjab’s law and order situation, accusing the Bhagwant Mann-led government of failing to effectively address threats posed by drug networks, gangsters and organised crime.
Referring to incidents in Dirba and Mansa, Shah said the Union Home Ministry would seek a response from the Punjab government and called for decisive action to restore public confidence in the state’s security system.
Shah cited an incident in Dirba involving a father who allegedly consumed poison after facing pressure. He also referred to the daylight murder of Parvinder Singh Jhotta in Mansa, saying the incident had raised serious questions about law and order.
Jhotta had reportedly spoken out against drug abuse and the drug trade. His father has levelled allegations against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and a party MLA.

Calling for an impartial investigation, Shah stressed that allegations of political protection for criminals must be examined fairly and thoroughly. He urged the state government to take firm action against those involved in criminal activities, irrespective of their political connections.
Shah promises action against drugs and gangsters
The Union Home Minister called for a stronger crackdown on drug networks, warning that the growing influence of organised crime posed a threat to Punjab’s youth and public safety.
Shah said protecting young people from drugs, ensuring the safety of citizens and strengthening the rule of law should be priorities for the state government.
He also promised that Punjab would be made drug-free and gangster-free if the BJP came to power in the state.
The allegations against the Punjab government and the individuals mentioned in connection with the incidents require independent investigation. A response from the state government was not included in the statement provided.
