B.K. Hariprasad Calls for Coordinated Congress Campaign in Hiriyur By-election
Chitradurga: Congress leader B.K. Hariprasad has urged party leaders and workers to work in coordination to secure victory for the party’s candidate in the Hiriyur by-election, stressing the need for a strong booth-level campaign and direct engagement with voters.
Addressing a pre-election preparatory meeting in Hiriyur, Chitradurga district, Hariprasad called on ministers, MLAs, local leaders and party workers to unite their efforts and take responsibility for reaching every voter.
He said the by-election should be treated with utmost seriousness and that strengthening the party organisation at the grassroots level would be crucial to the campaign.
Hariprasad alleged that eligible voters were being targeted for exclusion under the pretext of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He said the Congress would continue to oppose any action that deprived eligible citizens of their voting rights.
Describing the right to vote as a constitutional entitlement, he urged party workers to create public awareness about the issue and what he termed the erosion of democratic values.

Hariprasad also criticised the BJP, alleging that it had neglected the interests of farmers, labourers, women and young people while giving priority to political considerations over public concerns.
He said a Congress victory in Hiriyur should be viewed not merely as an electoral success for an individual candidate but as a reflection of the party’s organisational strength and public support for its governance agenda.
He called on party workers to begin coordinated campaign activities immediately and strengthen their outreach across the constituency.
The preparatory meeting was attended by Chitradurga district in-charge Minister T. Raghumurthy; Ministers H.C. Balakrishna and Shivaraj Tangadagi; senior MLAs T.B. Jayachandra, N.Y. Gopalakrishna and B.G. Govindappa; MLA Roopa Shashidhar; MLA Kunigal Ranganath; former minister H. Anjaneya; Legislative Council member Srinivas; former MLAs Umapathi and Poornima Srinivas; and Chitradurga DCC president M.K. Tajpeer.
