Muscat: Five Indian sailors aboard a Kuwaiti-flagged tanker were safely rescued after the vessel, MT Kazimah III, was struck by a missile or projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Saturday.

The Indian Embassy in Oman coordinated the rescue operation, ensuring that all five sailors were brought safely ashore. The embassy also expressed its gratitude to the Omani authorities for their assistance in the operation.

“India is committed to the safety, security, and welfare of Indian sailors abroad,” the MEA said in a post on X.

The incident involved the tanker while it was navigating the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a key international shipping route.
