Bengaluru: KPCC President B.K. Hariprasad has strongly condemned the incident in which slippers were allegedly thrown at Chikkaballapur MLA Pradeep Easwar during a public event.
Reacting to the incident, Hariprasad said differences of opinion are natural in politics, but those who cannot counter arguments through democratic means resort to such cowardly and condemnable acts.
He stated that attempts to suppress dissent through violence, intimidation and humiliation have no place in Karnataka’s democratic culture. Such actions, he said, cannot be justified in a democracy that respects the people’s mandate.
Expressing solidarity with the MLA, Hariprasad said, “Pradeep Easwar should not be discouraged. The Congress party stands firmly with him.”
He further asserted that the voice of truth, democracy and the people cannot be silenced through such acts and urged everyone to uphold democratic values and political civility.
