BENGALURU: Bigg Boss Kannada winner and actor Shine Shetty is set to explore a new avatar with his upcoming horror-comedy film ‘Shankarabharana’. Directed by Sumanth Bhat, the film’s teaser has been released, offering a glimpse into a spooky yet comic journey centred around a bus and its driver.
The teaser opens with an eerie atmosphere as a bus travels through the darkness, with Shine Shetty seen behind the wheel. What begins as an ordinary journey soon takes an unusual turn, with strange incidents unfolding along the way. The teaser blends horror elements with humour, leaving viewers curious about what awaits the passengers.
Shine plays the role of a regular bus driver whose routine life is disrupted by a series of bizarre and unexpected events. Interestingly, the bus itself appears to be an important element of the narrative, with much of the story revolving around its mysterious journey.
The film marks director Sumanth Bhat’s move into commercial cinema after his work on the web series ‘Ekamm’ and the National Award-winning film ‘Mithya’. ‘Shankarabharana’ combines horror and comedy while keeping its characters and situations rooted in everyday life.
Adding another dimension to the project, Shine Shetty has also penned the story. He is making his debut as a producer with the film, collaborating with Divakar Shetty under the Rangasthala Studios banner.
According to the makers, Rangasthala Studios was launched with an aim to support stories emerging from coastal Karnataka and other parts of the state.
Actress Tanvi Rao plays the female lead and shares screen space with Shine Shetty. Having acted in more than 17 Malayalam films, Rao is expected to make an impact with her Kannada outing. Krithi, wife of music composer Anoop Seelin, is also part of the cast in a key role.
With its mix of horror, humour and mystery, the teaser has raised expectations around ‘Shankarabharana’. The film is expected to present Shine Shetty in a distinctly different avatar.
