New Delhi: India clinched the Men’s Junior Hockey Asia Cup title with a commanding 4-1 victory over South Korea in the final on Sunday, extending its dominance in the continental tournament.
The triumph marked India’s fourth consecutive Junior Men’s Hockey Asia Cup title, making it the first team in the tournament’s history to win the championship four times in a row. It was also India’s sixth Junior Men’s Hockey Asia Cup title overall.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the young players on their emphatic victory, describing the achievement as “extraordinary” and saying it reflected the immense talent in Indian hockey.
“Congratulations to our Junior Men’s Hockey Team for winning the Asia Cup with a magnificent 4-1 victory in the final. This is truly an extraordinary achievement,” Modi said in a post on X.
“This feat reflects the immense talent of our young players. Best wishes to the entire team,” he added.
India’s victory was powered by a cohesive team effort and an effective performance in the final against South Korea. The title further strengthens the country’s record in junior-level Asian hockey and underlines the depth of emerging talent in Indian hockey.
The latest triumph also adds to India’s growing success on the continental stage, with the junior side once again demonstrating its ability to deliver under pressure.
For Indian hockey, the back-to-back title-winning performances at the junior level provide a strong platform for nurturing players who could go on to represent the senior national team in the years ahead.
