Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has taken serious note of complaints that Kannadigas are being denied employment opportunities and native Kannada speakers are being overlooked by companies in Bengaluru’s information technology and biotechnology (IT-BT) sector.

In a statement, the Chief Minister’s Office said the rights, dignity and employment opportunities of Kannadigas were of utmost importance to the government. It warned that deliberate discrimination against the state’s youth would not be tolerated and that appropriate action would be taken against private establishments found engaging in such practices.

The government also assured that it would directly examine the complaints and take necessary steps to address the concerns.

At the same time, the Chief Minister’s Office appealed to organisations not to visit IT-BT companies directly or take matters into their own hands. It said such issues should be resolved through dialogue and within the framework of the law.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of Kannadigas, the statement said the administration would take appropriate steps to ensure that their rights and employment opportunities were protected.
