Dharwad: A total of 99,412 farmers in Dharwad district will receive ₹19.88 crore under the 24th instalment of the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said.
Under the latest instalment, ₹2,000 has been credited to the bank accounts of each eligible farmer through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Across the country, ₹18,680 crore has been transferred to more than 9.34 crore farmer beneficiaries, Joshi said.
The minister said the financial assistance would help farmers meet agricultural expenses and provide support to farming families. Direct transfer of funds into beneficiaries’ bank accounts also ensures that the assistance reaches them without the involvement of middlemen, he added.
Joshi said the government was focusing on farmers’ economic security and strengthening the agriculture sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
