Nagpur: The Maharashtra government will provide opportunities for trained Agniveers to join the state police force, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, highlighting their potential contribution to policing and coastal security.

Speaking in Nagpur, Fadnavis said the state government had decided to induct Agniveers who wished to join the Maharashtra Police after completing their short-service tenure.

The first batch of Agniveers received by the state was from the Navy, and all of them have been integrated into the coastal security wing, he said.

Their induction would strengthen coastal security, given their extensive training and experience serving along borders and in challenging terrains, Fadnavis said.

“I believe this has been mutually beneficial, and we have successfully absorbed all these Agniveers,” he said.

The Chief Minister added that the state would also provide opportunities for Agniveers from the Army and the Air Force to join the police force in the future.
