Mary Millben Alleges US Donors Funding Anti-Modi Group Cockroach Janata Party

WASHINGTON: American singer Mary Millben has alleged that US-based donors opposed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi are funding the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and its leader, Abhijeet Dipke. She has urged young Indians to organise and peacefully protest against the outfit, saying it is not the time to remain silent. The funding allegations have not been independently established.

In a post on X, Millben expressed support for Modi and his leadership, claiming that certain American donors were backing forces opposed to the prime minister. Her remarks come amid protests by the CJP and Opposition parties in New Delhi over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

“Do not fear, my young patriots,” Millben said, asserting that Modi, who has served as prime minister for three consecutive terms, would not bow to what she described as disruptive forces from the United States.

Allegations of a wider funding network

Millben also alleged that certain US-based donors target conservative leaders across the world by supporting individuals who, she claimed, promote radical ideologies. According to her, some people educated in the United States are influenced by such groups and subsequently receive financial backing to launch political movements in their home countries.

She claimed that although such efforts may not always succeed, they could affect the development and governance of the countries concerned. However, her claims about the alleged funding network have not been independently verified, and no conclusive public evidence establishing the allegations was cited in the reports.

Calling for a counter-movement, Millben urged young Indians to raise their voices and peacefully oppose what she described as the CJP’s disruptive approach. She said such a movement was necessary to uphold democracy and freedom.

Who is Mary Millben?

Mary Millben is an American singer and actress who has gained recognition in India for her performances of the national anthem, Jana Gana Mana, and the devotional hymn Om Jai Jagdish Hare.

She came into the spotlight in India through her patriotic performances and sang the Indian national anthem during an event associated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States in 2023. Her latest remarks have drawn attention amid the ongoing political debate over electoral roll revisions and the protests against the Election Commission.

To all the beautiful young patriots in India:

This is not the time to be silent. @abhijeet_dipke and the @Cockroachisback are being funded by donors in the U.S. who are against Prime Minister @NarendraModi and your future under his leadership. Do not fear, my young patriots. Your Prime Minister, who has served India for 25 years, 12 years as Prime Minister, elected three consecutive terms, is not going to bow to disruptive forces from my country.

And these select donors have a pattern globally – target conservative global leaders, find an U.S. educated person from the country, radicalize them, send them back to the country, and fund them to start chaos and destruction. None of them have been successful but have impacted the development and governance of the country.

It is time for a new voice in #India, born, raised, educated on the soil of India, to RISE UP, organize, and peacefully protest the disruptive spirit of the Cockroach Party. There should always be a counter movement to uphold democracy and freedom.

Rise up, young patriots! Rise up!
