WASHINGTON: American singer Mary Millben has issued a fresh warning to Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Deepke, alleging that US-based donors supporting the party’s protests in India could abandon him if their objectives are not achieved.

Millben, who has been engaged in a series of exchanges on social media over the CJP-led protests, warned Deepke in a post on X that donors would quickly withdraw their support if he failed to deliver the results they sought.

“If you are unsuccessful in achieving your goal, American donors will drop you in an instant,” Millben reportedly said in her post.

Millben alleges foreign funding

Millben had earlier alleged that US-based donors opposed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership were providing financial support to Deepke and his party.

She also claimed that certain donors follow a pattern of identifying individuals educated in the United States, influencing them and financing activities in their home countries after their return. According to Millben, such efforts are aimed at creating unrest and challenging conservative leaders.

She argued that even when these efforts fail, they can affect a country’s development and governance. However, the allegations regarding foreign funding have not been independently substantiated in the information available.

Calls on Indians to speak up

Millben has also urged young Indians not to remain silent and called for peaceful protests against the CJP. She said people born, raised and educated in India should come forward to protect the country’s democracy and freedom.

Deepke questions foreign intervention

Responding to Millben’s allegations, Deepke questioned why an American citizen was commenting on India’s internal affairs.

“Who gave foreign nationals the authority to interfere in India’s internal matters? We are capable of resolving our own problems. We do not need outsiders to intervene in our country’s affairs,” Deepke said.

‘Modi does not need American support’

In response, Millben said Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not need support from the United States, claiming that he had the backing of the Indian people. She cited his three consecutive terms as prime minister and his long career in public life.

“The Prime Minister does not need American support. He has the support of 1.5 billion Indians. He has been in public life for the past 25 years and has served as prime minister for 12 years, winning three consecutive terms,” Millben said in her post, adding that she believed the trend would continue in 2029.

Millben also urged Deepke to use his education and abilities for constructive purposes.

“Lawlessness will never prevail. Use the education and talent you received in America for good,” she said.

She further suggested that Deepke engage with Modi and contribute to India’s progress, adding that his future actions would reveal whether he had the courage to do what was right.
