Mysuru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Mysuru on August 1, where he will inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Memorial and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre, developed at a cost of ₹45 crore.
The memorial, located on Narayana Shastri Road in Devaraja Mohalla, has been built at the historic site where Swami Vivekananda stayed during his visit to Mysuru. The centre has been developed to promote youth engagement, cultural activities and the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
Following the inauguration, the Prime Minister will visit the Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru, where he will offer floral tributes to the statue of Swami Vivekananda. He is also expected to participate in a special programme at the Ashram hall for around 30 minutes.
Around 6,000 people are expected to attend the event. Entry will be restricted to pass holders, although college students and members of the public have also been invited to participate, according to Ashram authorities.
Several dignitaries, including Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, Karnataka BJP president B. Y. Vijayendra and MLA Harish Gowda, are expected to attend the function. Officials said only a limited number of dignitaries will be accommodated on the main stage.
