Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme in Tamil Nadu covered a range of transport infrastructure initiatives, spanning road, rail, urban transit and maritime connectivity.

The national highway package, involving projects worth ₹3,700 crore, included both foundation-laying ceremonies for new works and inaugurations of completed projects. While some stretches were ready to be opened for public use, others were at the construction stage.

Rail connectivity received a boost with the dedication of railway infrastructure projects worth ₹750 crore to the nation.

Urban transport was another key component of the programme, with the inauguration of a Metro project aimed at strengthening public transport connectivity.

At Chennai Port, the Prime Minister inaugurated four infrastructure projects intended to improve maritime facilities and cargo-handling capacity.

Together, the initiatives covered multiple segments of the transport sector, reflecting a focus on improving road and rail connectivity, urban mobility and port infrastructure in Tamil Nadu.
