Prashanth Neel-presented horror film ‘418’ gets A certificate after CBFC raises concerns over scary scenes

Bengaluru: Filmmaker Prashanth Neel is known for high-octane action and intense violence in his films, but his latest association with a horror project has reportedly run into trouble with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The horror thriller 418, produced by Mythri Movie Makers and presented by Prashanth Neel, was initially denied certification by the censor board over concerns that some of its frightening sequences could be disturbing for audiences across age groups.

The film has now cleared the certification process after the makers made several changes. The CBFC has granted 418 an ‘A’ certificate, paving the way for its theatrical release on September 18.

Directed by Keerthan Nadagowda, 418 is being described as a serious horror thriller that stays focused on fear and suspense rather than mixing the genre with comedy or romance. The film reportedly features intense horror sequences, an unsettling atmosphere and background music designed to heighten the sense of fear.

Following the CBFC objections, the filmmakers reportedly modified several scenes and toned down the background score to reduce the intensity of the horror elements. The revised version subsequently received the ‘A’ certificate.

The makers have also used the certification as part of the film’s promotional campaign. A poster announcing the ‘A’ certificate features a person writing the letter ‘A’ in blood, in keeping with the film’s dark theme.

418 is being promoted as a film made by a disciple of Prashanth Neel, adding to the curiosity surrounding the project.

Meanwhile, Neel is currently working on his upcoming film Dragon, starring Jr NTR. He is expected to take up Salaar 2 next, followed by a project with Tamil actor Ajith. KGF 3 is also among his planned projects.
