New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tribute to all those who participated in the historic Quit India Movement, recalling their courage and determination in India’s freedom struggle.
Marking the anniversary of the movement, Modi said the call for ‘Quit India’, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s leadership, gave fresh momentum to the freedom struggle and reflected the unwavering resolve of Indians to end colonial rule.
“Remembering all those who participated in the historic Quit India Movement. Their courage will always remain an inspiration for every Indian,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X.
He said the movement’s clarion call infused new energy into India’s fight for freedom and demonstrated the collective determination of the people to break free from colonial rule.
The Quit India Movement was launched in August 1942 under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, who gave the historic ‘Do or Die’ call. The movement became one of the most significant mass campaigns of India’s freedom struggle.
Modi’s tribute came as the country observed August Kranti Diwas, with programmes being organised across the country to remember the sacrifices and contributions of those who took part in the movement.
The Prime Minister said the courage and commitment displayed by participants of the Quit India Movement continue to serve as an inspiration for generations of Indians.
