Bengaluru: Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly R. Ashok on Monday demanded a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in the Veterinary Department recruitment process, claiming that the selection exercise was tainted by a scam involving nearly ₹800 crore.
Addressing reporters in Bengaluru, Ashok alleged that candidates who had secured higher marks were denied appointments, while others had allegedly obtained government posts by paying money.
Questioning the credibility of the recruitment process, he said several students who had secured top ranks in universities failed to score even 350 marks in the KPSC examination, whereas some candidates with average academic records had reportedly scored over 400 marks. The discrepancies, he alleged, pointed to large-scale manipulation and the sale of government posts.
Ashok said an inquiry by the department would not be sufficient to uncover the truth and insisted that only an independent investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) could ensure a fair and transparent probe.
Referring to the nationwide protests over the NEET question paper leak, the BJP leader also questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for remaining silent on the alleged KPSC recruitment irregularities in Karnataka, despite raising concerns over examination-related scandals elsewhere in the country.
