New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday accused Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the Congress of using students as “political pawns” amid the ongoing protests over the alleged NEET examination irregularities.
In a post on social media platform X, Pradhan alleged that the Congress was attempting to create unrest during the Monsoon Session of Parliament by politicising the issue instead of participating in discussions.
He also criticised the Congress protest held near the Prime Minister’s residence, alleging that it caused inconvenience to the public and violated security protocols. The Union minister said the government was prepared for a comprehensive debate on the NEET issue but accused the Opposition of choosing street protests over parliamentary discussion.
“For Rahul Gandhi, this is not about students’ concerns. Despite the opportunity for discussion, the intention is to create political confrontation,” Pradhan alleged.
The minister maintained that the Centre remained committed to discussing all issues concerning students and young people, including NEET, in Parliament. He added that students deserved “solutions rather than slogans, certainty rather than confusion, and accountability rather than politics.”
