London: RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat is in London till September 7 as part of the final leg of the organisation’s global outreach programme marking its centenary.
According to a statement issued by RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar on Friday, the organisation, founded by Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in 1925, has completed 100 years of activities rooted in Hindu civilisational and cultural values.
The RSS said its 2025-26 annual report recorded more than 1.52 lakh service initiatives across the country in areas including education, healthcare, social welfare and self-reliance. It also said there were more than 1.34 lakh regular local activities, including daily shakhas and weekly and monthly meetings.
The centenary programme focuses on five priorities — social harmony, strengthening family values, environmental responsibility, self-reliance and civic responsibility, Ambekar said.
Global outreach
As part of the centenary celebrations, the RSS has expanded its engagement with communities and institutions overseas. In April, RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale visited the UK, US and Germany, where he interacted with academics, parliamentarians, business leaders and members of the Indian community.
Bhagwat later travelled to New York and Toronto. A multi-faith leaders’ meeting in New York on August 29 was attended by 175 people, while more than 6,000 delegates participated in the ‘Universal Oneness’ conference at Madison Square Garden, the RSS said.
In Toronto, more than 2,000 representatives of 175 organisations from across Canada participated in the ‘Hindu Vishwa Bandhu’ conference.
‘Celebration of Oneness’ on Sept 6
Bhagwat’s London visit is the final leg of the three-city global outreach programme. UK-based Integral is coordinating the programme, with more than 115 socio-cultural organisations supporting the engagements.
During his visit, Bhagwat has been meeting religious leaders, academics and researchers. He has visited the Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Willesden and the Khalsa Jatha British Isles gurdwara and is scheduled to visit a Jain temple.
A community leaders’ reception and civilisational dialogue, titled ‘Celebration of Oneness’, will be held on September 6. The event, organised by Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh UK with support from Integral, is expected to see participation from representatives of more than 310 community organisations.
The RSS said the London programme would carry forward its message of selfless service, social harmony and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — “the world is one family”.
